The new Organ Mountains Desert Peaks National Monument

Postby nosborne48 » Thu May 22, 2014 2:15 pm

Loud, long cheers! The President just placed the most beautiful and wild parts of my county into a new National Monument which will protect them from reduction to private ownership and eventual development.

This was done over the foaming at the mouth objections of my non-representative Steve Pierce (R). That alone pleases me greatly.

Come visit us! This place is not like anywhere else, I promise you!

Are those the spectacular mountain peaks that overlook Las Cruces?

I've always felt that they were one of the best features of the place and worthy of some kind of recognition.

Yes, those are the Organs and they are now protected with much else besides.
