Trinity College "Data Center" for sale

Postby g-gollin » Sun Aug 05, 2007 6:02 pm

Just so we're clear: this is about the Seychelles instantiation of Trinity that uses the domain http://www.TrinityCollege.edu.sc.

The Trinity Brochure identifies the address of its "Data Center" as holding a Moreno Valley, California address. Here's the rest of it:

Piazza Martiri 7
Suite 107
SBC - Antico Principato di Seborga
Italy, EU

Suite #2
Sound & Vision House
Victoria, Mahe, Seychelles
UK Commonwealth Nation

Data Center
11460 Lasselle Street
Moreno Valley, California 92557

Telephone (951) 743-5343
Fax (951) 243-1618

www.TrinityCollege.edu.sc

The current catalog identifes "National Academy of Higher Education," the now-defunct Thing that lived at http://www.nahighered.org/index.htm and was a 6Dr. Richard J. Hoyer production, as where to go to "obtain a certificate indicating that Trinity College degrees are the equivalent of U.S. degrees."

Like to see pictures? ReMax has it for sale as a residential property, asking price $720,000. Here are, for example, the Trinity College Seychelles Data Center's bedroom and jacuzzi.

This Trinity's accreditation

Postby g-gollin » Sun Aug 05, 2007 7:48 pm

The page http://www.trinitycollege.edu.sc/Accreditation.htm shows that Trinity claims accreditation from "the International Educational Ministry Accreditation Association (IEMAA), a Division of the Interfaith Education Ministries (IEM)." The logo for IEMAA on the site is this:

The "maybe they misspelled it" Standford Goativersity is also IEMAA-accredited. (And it's recognised by WIDU, how about that!)

So what's the IEMAA history? It's colorful. A little whois-history:

Talk is cheap. let's see you complete the program. Work hard and pay very little. This is the future of education. Trinity Seychelles gives out many 100% scholarships to those living in poverty in Africa and reaches into areas in the world that other colleges could not even consider reaching. This is the future of education. At Trinity, costs are controlled, the quality of the curriculum (the great books of the Western World) is solid, the faculty is impressive, and the mission is noble. Back up all your words. Let's see you graduate Trinity College Seychelles.

I think a better idea is to give the amount of money that this degree would cost to a charity instead of giving these guys your money. Actually this response is ridiculous if you're talking to g-gollin. He has a real Ph.D. already.

You're just a spammer who has posted the same message to the same thread twice just so that you can get your spam onto this board.

The Centre is not for sale. The College was accredited by Italy's principality but is no longer since they stopped accrediting. What is most important is that it is authorized to offer degrees by the government of Seychelles. Like I said before, talk is cheap. The program is rigorous and will not happen overnight. If you don't believe me, just try it yourself. The college serves students from the most economically challenged nations. The tuition is very affordable. Most instructors are volunteers. The former heart surgeon of Mother Teresa of Calcutta finished his PhD at Trinity. One of the professors from Russia was nominated for the Nobel Prize. Just because a college does not fit your definition for success doesn't make it a degree mill. You should re-evaluate your unofficial standards.

BCarroll: "The former heart surgeon of Mother Teresa of Calcutta finished his PhD at Trinity."

JBear: Oh, really? The many articles I've reviewed on the estimable Dr. Devi Shetty make no mention of this, only that his medical training was at Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore and his postdoctoral training at Guys Hospital in London. Could you be so kind as to confirm your statement -- possibly even without waiting three more years. Thank you.

Hmm...is that embalming fluid I smell wafting from the corpse of this long-defunct thread? Why the exhumation? Did anyone obtain an order from the Home Office? That's what they always did in Sherlock Holmes.

Italy's "principality"? What is that, exactly? I SUPPOSE one could argue that the current Vatican State is a sort of principality but last time I checked, Italy was a "modern democratic republic" to borrow Wikipedia's description and has been since 1946. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italy

Oh well, maybe the school dates back to Mussolini.

Yes. Alas, poor Threadnik - I knew him well. :(

nosborne48 wrote:Italy's "principality"? What is that, exactly?

That be the "Antico Principato di Seborga," Nosborne. A principality unrecognized by the Italian Government. Spuriously "revived" from the medieval era. Strictly a marketing "con"-cept, Seborga was home for a long while to shifty schools and their unrecognized "Accreditors," among other dubious businesses. You could "register" practically anything for a fistful of Euros. Again, you can smell the embalming fluid - Seborga was dead for centuries. Still is, despite miraculous claims of a Seborgan Renaissance. :D You'll find quite a few references to The Mills of Seborga by using the search-gadget, I'm sure.

Think of it as an Italian version of "Hutt River Province" - and Prince Leonard Casley. Quite a few bogus schools there, too.

Wow! Thus we go from an unaccredited school to a school with bogus accreditation to an accrediting agency with approval from a bogus government! It's like...fractals or something!

"threadnik" (snigger) :)

Kinda, although I like genuine fractals a lot better. They are beautiful and exhibit REAL self-similarity, whereas this conglomeration (Trinity, Seborga etc.) is ugly and explores the "thirty-seven degrees of BOGUS simianity."

As fractal types go, this stuff is somewhere between a "False Liberian Diffusion" and a " Perverse Panama Plasma." I certainly wouldn't want to dishonour the names of (Benoit) Mandelbrot or (Gaston) Julia by using them in this connection.
