"Hadley University is accredited by Distance Learning Quality Assurance Agency (DLQAA),Global Accreditation Council for Business Education ( GACBE) International Accreditation Council of Engineering Professionals (IACEP),European Accreditation Board of Higher Education (EABHE) and Central American Distance Learning Association (CADLA)"

Wow! Five bogus accreditors! I'm not sure if even International University of Fundamental Studies has that many! But then again, they have no less than a Mahatma in charge! :D :D

This guy is the IUFS leader - also a self-proclaimed teacher of "Rocket Science" (sic) and "Doctor of Satellite TV."

It must be arduous, tedious and mentally-numbing work, slaving away on the assembly-line in the "Rochville Industries" fraud-factory. But I hear the pay makes up for all that! I DO wish there could be occasional explosions, like in meth-labs! :(

I have heard of him, and the IUFS, in its early days known as the ICS, or the Institute of Computer Studies. The ICS had its own trading center and was selling all sorts of interesting products.

I know this doesn't have much to do with fake schools, but I misread that last one for a moment as "Kingsnake University."

It put me in mind of John Lee Hooker's excellent 1949 version of "Crawlin' Kingsnake Blues"

"You know I'm a crawlin' king snake, baby, and I rules my den
You know I'm a crawlin' king snake, baby, and I rules my den
I don't want you hangin' around my mate; wanna use her for myself

You know you caught me crawlin', baby, when the, when the grass was very high
I'm just gonna keep on crawlin' now, baby, until the day I die
Because I'm a crawlin' king snake, baby, and I rules my den
Don't want you hangin' around my mate; wanna use her for myself

You know I'm gon' crawl up to your window, baby
Wanna crawl up to your door; you got anything I want, baby?
Wanna crawl up on your floor
Because I'm a crawlin' king snake, baby, and I rules my den

You know you caught me crawlin', baby, when the, when the grass was very high
I'm just gonna keep on crawlin' now, baby, until the day I die
Because I'm a crawlin' king snake, baby, and I rules my den"

Great singer, great song. I met him once, back about 1963...

I'm 71, Matt. Born in 1943. I was 20, when John Lee Hooker played our town. Blues wasn't a big thing here in 1963, but some years later it was. Back then, Europeans had always known and loved them, but the real blues weren't widely appreciated among North American Whites -- nor were they among all that many Blacks, for that matter. Some people had an inkling, from exposure to folk music, though.

I was lucky - I got into them by a more direct route. I had a friend a few years older than I was, who had travelled extensively in the US. When I was 16 or 17, (1959-60) he played his Lightnin' Hopkins, John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters records and I was hooked. As I remember, when I was a bit older, that same friend poured me my first shot of bourbon -- the stuff was pretty much unknown, here in Eastern Canada at the time... :)

I'm probably one of the oldest posters here - but I believe Dr. John Bear has a few years on me. IIRC, the Doyen of Distance Learning was born in 1938.

John: Guilty as charged. 76 next month. Still trying to decide if that'll mean four 19's or two 38's. (I love the fact that Herman Wouk just published his new novel, The Lawgiver, at age 96. And there's quite a nice Steven King short story, "Herman Wouk is Still Alive," available free at the Atlantic Monthly site: http://tinyurl.com/qyhfvpp

As it happens, my FBI co-author and I have been trying to track down some of the major degree mill perpetrators from earlier times. The usually-reliable ZabaSearch.com and www.pipl.com both listed "Dr." George Cook Lyon (Edison University and others) as living in Benton, Arkansas, age 109. But I found an obituary for him from 1997, a mere 92.

Completely off the radar (our radar, anyway) is James Vardaman Kirk, founder of LaSalle and various other phonies. I'd love to know what he's up to these days.

(No problem finding James Tiberius Kirk, however.)

You mean this guy, right?

"Thomas James Kirk aka Thomas McPherson Kirk aka Thomas McPherson aka Thomas J. Kirk aka James Vardaman Kirk, ..."

Well, I inadvertently came across a very weird Youtube video a couple of years ago. The guy who made it said he was Kirk's son and his father had passed away, perhaps a year or two previously - I forget exactly. The video-maker was from the same area of Louisiana as his (claimed) father. Mandeville? Metairie? Something with an "M."

I think I may have written something about it in this forum. Yeah - I did. Here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9008&p=71359&hilit=James+Kirk+Louisiana#p71359

Looks like Mr. Kirk may have finally been "beamed up" around 2008. At least, he's never come around to contradict me.
