LL.M.-DONE! YAY!

Postby nosborne48 » Thu Apr 07, 2011 9:17 pm

Just got the e mail. My scores on the final were satisfactory.

Taft Law School is doing a graduation check (and I sent them a graduation fee check) so THAT is THAT!

Started in the Summer of 2007 by studying for and passing the IRS' Special Enrollment Exam for Enrolled Agents. Received my EA license in Spring 2008.

Enrolled in Taft in the Summer of 2008.

Completed the third and final semester just now.

24 semester hours in seven courses and well over 250,000 words written. I have learned a lot. And I still don't know anything about tax. :P

We have to find you a Mexican university where you could do a research doctorate in transnational tax issues. No Sheila Danzig, just. :P

Congratulations, indeed. And thanks for keeping us posted on your journey.

Wouldn't it be appropriate if your actual diploma were dated April 15th!

Oh, and I've got this question: how do I handle capital losses from the recall of my Mongolian railway debentures as they impact my alternative minimum tax payment carry-over for my part-time resident Delaware thirdly returns, referring of course to line 187 on page 421 of form D-1782-W, 1942 revision?

Depends. How long have you held the bonds?

I bought them yesterday morning, transferring Bangladeshi Takas into my Mongolian Tughriks account in Kyzyl, Tuva.

Short-term capital loss based on involuntary conversion. If you held the foreign currencies for more than one year, you'll want to figure the gains and losses on them separately.

Where do I send the bill?

Taft doesn't do a "walk" but for the first time they are thinking of some sort of informal ceremony. Don't know if I'm interested for a mere master of laws. For a J.S.D., I probably would.

It's official...LL.M. degree awarded March 7, 2011 (I guess they didn't wait for the Partnership Tax exam results) according to the letter.

The degree is annotated on my transcript and do I want a diploma for $75? Hell, yes, I want a diploma are you guys nuts? But they can't order it until June.

Hunh. LOTS of "diploma replacement services" out there can get it done a lot faster than that. Maybe I should go for that?
