University of Phoenix to be "on notice" re accreditation

I don't think it means much. It is more an expression of concern than an actual sanction like probationary status.

It means they're under fire from the Department of Education, so they're "doing something" to look tough.

It is more an expression of concern than an actual sanction like probationary status.

The posted link reflects a news story dated January 10, 2013.

The more recent news, as of February 25, 2013, is that UoP now does expect to be placed "on probation" -- not just "on notice".
Probation is is also expected for Western International University, another Apollo entity.

Wow. So HLC is cracking down because the Sec of Ed is cracking down on HLC?
