Just skimmed over a 14-page Nixon U. brochure on moc.seergedelbadroffa-enilno site. I spelled it backwards in case they're sending drones after people even suggesting a link to them! You know how to get there! :D :D

It's obviously a Salem Kureshi-owned scam. How do I know? Because the brochure is done with a template that still bears the names of McFord University and South West Central University - both among the finest mills of Kureshi's home turf - Karachi, Pakistan.

What's WORST about this mess is - Nixon (on the site I mentioned) is displaying a USDLA membership sticker. USDLA is a well-meaning organization that has many very good member-schools - including well-known RA names. The downside is - they will (unknowingly?) accept any blatant mill as a member, provided it sends them the entry fee!

USDLA is here: http://www.usdla.org/

USDLA itself was never in the accreditation biz, although they had a captive unrecognized accreditor as a subsidiary: DLAB, as I recall. The initials stood for Distance Learning Accreditation Board. This org., founded in 2004, used to be visible as part of USLDA site - no longer. I think USDLA may have (wisely) mothballed DLAB.

USDLA did, however, experiment with "certification" -- and its one attempt that I know of was a resounding failure. Clayton College of Natural Health was "certified" by USDLA and folded not all that long thereafter. IIRC, there was a successful class action lawsuit against Clayton on behalf of former students. I believe there was significant money -- over a million dollars, to the best of my recollection, that was returned by the victorious lawyers to their class-action clients.

AFAIK, CCNH was USDLA's last experiment with "certification." I hope for no repeats of that kind of travesty.

They should be MUCH choosier when enrolling new members. 'Way too many mills like Nixon U. flashing the USDLA seal. A backlash from the good member schools might put USDLA out of biz...you never know. :(

Re: USDLA - it gets even worse...

Postby johann » Wed Apr 17, 2013 12:38 am

Just checked. Two more totally bogus template-"Universities" are flying the USDLA membership flag: MUST University and Midtown University.
Again, both "schools" are said to be among the 20 or so run from his apartment in Karachi by "Professor Belford" himself - Salem Kureshi.

USDLA couldn't open its membership book to WORSE "schools" if it tried! Obviously, it doesn't have a clue whom it is letting in. :(

...or DOES it?

Thankyou, Enric, for your wise suggestion. Now go back to spamming for the local "Institute of Higher Typewriting" or whoever else pays you.

Actually, Ray has a brother called Harvey. Or if it's just Ray who changed his name, I don't know.

Ray and Harvey go to all sorts of interesting places, like Pittsford, Mayfield, Belltown and Bay City.

By the way, I wonder what happened to good old Bonneville University, of Block 2, room 202, Pakistani Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Almas Heights, Karachi?

Oh, wow! One of 'em has no fewer than SIX bogus accreditors!

You're definitely the new king of degree-mill searches, Mbwa Shenzi! "The king is dead. Long live the king!" :)

Bonneville was reported in this forum, back in '06 - "the first degree mill named after an automobile." viewtopic.php?f=5&t=631

HG suggested, tongue in cheek, that there could be a Nobel Prize here, as Bonneville, Belford and Rochville were isotropic. All three schools' grad. numbers were identical. :)

Yes - Bonneville is gone now. No big loss. I'm pretty sure the man behind it has at least 20 other schools going. Even the best juggler drops the occasional ball.. or maybe it was just "retired" for a newer model.

Well, you know, Bonneville might be gone but there was a lot going on in Block 2, P.E.C.H.S, Almas Heights, Karachi. In room 206 there was a bloke with degree from West Coast Institute of Management & Technology, Australia. And I think it's rather "the men behind it"

Wow -- that's quite a list. One of them, Castate - doesn't even have its site quite ready, yet. You must have some inside info. :)

Even more ominous is the proliferation of fake accreditors. We have the legit AACSB and ACBSP for the programs of business schools. Now we have the thoroughly bogus AABSP, here. http://www.aabsp.com/

Perhaps with your knowledge and "special interest in the Belford people," you might be able to help the plaintiffs' lawyers, with info that might assist them in collecting some or all of the $22 million + for which they have judgment against Belford. :)
